This was the one point in your tour that everyone anticipated and worked towards.  To be going home and back to your wife or girl friend was nearly everyone’s ultimate goal.  Unfortunately, whether you had to wear your “Best Blue” uniform or civilian clothing for the journey depended on the political situation existing in the countries your aircraft had to transit at or over fly.  Wearing “Best Blue” in the tropical temperatures of Gan was not at all pleasant but everyone accepted that being hot and very sweaty for a short time was a small price to pay to get home.
